cheese? yes, please.

my body is in shock right now.. if it had a voice it would probably
be cursing at me. instead i've just got a headache.

i decided to do a 6 day body detox {the healthy way} and I am
currently in day 2 of it.
lordy, it's hard..
I haven't had any sugar {except for natural sugars in fruits}, refined or processed foods in two days.
i've realized i really could live without many different foods..
chips/junk food - nope, no thank you.
meats - eww {I'm grossed out by any type of meat right now}
pasta - hmmm. it's hard but I really find I don't crave it.
sugar - nah. i can deal with not having it.
but what I miss the most is cheese.
i love me some good cheese.  i don't discriminate in any way..
I love them all.
and that's the hardest part for me right now...
so you better believe that as soon as I'm done with this I'm gonna eat some cheese.
sharp cheddar cheese.
yum.

{I would insert a picture from pinterest of a cheese tray here
but that would be more then I can take right now}

for now, I've had to make lots of these smoothies..
it's so much easier to eat sprouts, kale and spinach
when they are blended up with yummy fruits.

believe it or not I feel really good!
i've got a small little headache but I know that it's from the lack of sugar.
it feels good to get everything out of my system..
I've had this constant bloated feeling ever since Thanksgiving {is that too much information? sorry}..
which is around the time when all the crazy holiday eating happens
and now that feeling is gone.

I'll slowly start incorporating other foods back into my diet..
and then pick up my workouts again.

my goal is not weight loss, instead it's just to get my body running smoothly again,
to cleanse it of some of the bad habits I've picked up
and to exert some massive will power and say "no" I will not eat this...
it's hard, isn't it?
to deny ourselves what we want..
whether it be food, material things, a relationship, etc.
self control.. it's what I believe our Father wants of us and what
we should be constantly practicing in our lives.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law"
Galatians 5:22-23

thank you for reading my detox-turned-philosophical post,
i very much enjoyed talking about feeling bloated, smoothies and God all in one post :)

have a wonderful day, my friends!

I loved this post - bloating and all!! I wrote on my blog today about fasting. My husband and I are starting a 21 day fast with our church on Sunday. We did it last year, and I can totally relate to how you are feeling. Honestly, the first week was hard, but in the middle, I felt great. The hard part for me was food variety...as in there wasn't any. I'm so picky. I'm going to try to be better about it this time around. Also, there are more resources out there than I knew about last time around. Good luck on your detox!!

I am a junk food junkie. But recently I haven't been buying the junk food and have been replacing in with good foods. Instead of raisin bran crunch sugar cereal I have a banana for breakfast, for a snack I have almonds, clementines or apple chips instead of chips/crackers/cookies, etc. So far so good and I'm enjoying the change of food. But like you I am a cheese lover and make sure to have cheese in some form at least once a day.

I once tried to do a detox and it only lasted a few hours... but it felt much longer haha. It was hard working around food and not being able to eat it! Mine was with a lemonade drink that didn't taste good at all. Your smoothies look good though. I might be able to last longer on this detox. Not sure about 6 days though! Props to you! & when you are done, enjoy that cheese! We live in WI so we are cheeseheads :)

Glad you are feeling good and getting detoxed. Your smoothie looks very delicious!

I don't eat gluten, diary, sugar, processed foods, among other stuff. You just kind of get used to it after a while. But ever so often I would really love a pizza!! :)

Thats looks delicious! I know a lot of people that have been adding greens to their smoothies...they say you can barley tast the greens but it is very nutritious. Hope your having a wonderful New Year!

I can relate! The last time I went off sugar I felt the same way you do about cheese! Speaking of which, I think maybe I need to attempt that again!
