Before I start with this little craft I hope you read my little disclaimer about crafts here.
Basically, I just duplicate what I see {I'll be sure to note where I got the idea/inspiration from}
and add my own spin to it.
and add my own spin to it.
Once upon a time TJ Maxx and Marshall's used to sell these large heavy monogram letters.
I bought a "J" for my daughter and have been on the lookout for an "I" for my other daughter.
I'm not sure what type of material these letters were made of
{and I'm way to comfortable on the couch with my laptop to get up and check on it, sorry}
but I decided to try to create a one using the 12" card board letters I found at Michael's.
I know that I am not the first to create this embellished monogram letter but here's how I did it.
{1}
Painted the sides and bottom of the letter and let dry.
{2}
I missed taking a picture of this step but I traced the letter on scrapbook paper and cut it out.
Then used Mod Podge to glue the the scrapbook paper cut-out onto the letter.
{3}
Carefully trim the edges so that the scrapbook paper doesn't extend beyond the edges of the letter.
{I spy a little girl peeking}
{4}
Coat the top and edges of scrapbook paper with Mod Podge.
{5}
I tore out a small section of a page from an old bible I had
and used mod podge to glue it directly onto the letter.
{This was a gift for my cousins daughter who had just recently been baptized}
{6}
Time to embellish!
I added a little flower, some sparkly sequins and a little bird sticker to pretti-fy it up.
And that's it!
Easy peasy.
I have no doubt you could have figured it out without my
stellar tutorial {ha!}
